When they first dated five years ago, the Duke of York was said to be smitten with flame-haired American actress and model Angie Everhart.
Now the couple have been seen together again just weeks after she split with her fiance, American tough-guy actor Joe Pesci.
Prince Andrew, 48, and Miss Everhart were pictured side by side in his racing-green Aston Martin convertible in London last Wednesday.
Yesterday, having returned to her �1million Manhattan apartment, Miss Everhart giggled when asked what she was doing with Prince Andrew.
'I was just riding in the car,' she said in a mock Texan drawl.
Pressed further about her relationship with the Prince, Miss Everhart --who has a second home in Los Angeles - turned coy and replied: 'I have nothing to say to you.'
The 38-year-old former underwear model was briefly engaged to Sylvester Stallone, married George Hamilton's son Ashley and has been close to Prince Albert of Monaco, George Clooney and US 'shock jock' Howard Stern.
She is believed to have had an on-off relationship with Prince Andrew since 2003, and is said to have left the Duchess of York 'spitting feathers' when Andrew invited her to stay with him at Royal Lodge, Windsor, in 2006
Like the Duchess, Miss Everhart has led a hedonistic and flamboyant lifestyle.
A former school mascot and cheerleader in Akron, Ohio, she made her film debut in 1993 with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the action comedy Last Action Hero.
She has also starred in low-budget films such as Another 91/2 Weeks with Mickey Rourke in 1997, Bare Witness in 2001 and Tales From The Crypt Presents: Bordello Of Blood in 1996.
Paolo Liuzzo, the former boyfriend of Prince Andrew's daughter Princess Beatrice, has told how the Prince asked him to arrange for $10,000 in cash to be taken to Miss Everhart in New York in 2005.
The cash was to enable her to split up from a fiance and to move her possessions out of their apartment.
As Andrew's relationship with Miss Everhart blossomed, he invited her to attend Beatrice's 18th birthday masked ball at Windsor Castle in 2006 , where rapper 50 Cent topped the bill.
Miss Everhart turned up wearing a tight black corset and matching full-length flared skirt.
Miss Everhart - who was lucky not to end up paralysed after breaking her back in a riding accident at the age of 19 - has modelled swimsuits in Sports Illustrated magazine and posed naked for Playboy.
Prince Andrew drives a limited edition Aston Martin Virage V8 Volante, which cost about �80,000 when new. Only 230 were built.
A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said last night: 'We never discuss the Duke's private life.
